About Me:
Hey y'all! I'm a sassy southern belle from Texas with a love for all things vintage, old Hollywood, art deco, the debauchery, and that includes the music. I just moved near Knoxville, Tennessee with my amazing husband and our pups, Pebbles and BamBam.
My repertoire is focused on the great jazz standards and those timeless songs that we all know and love. My passion is breathing new life into these tunes and sharing them with fans as if you were taken back in time. Transported to an old prohibition speakeasy with all the glamor and nostalgia of the roaring 20s. You'll often see me in ultra-glamourous and sexy attire just like you would imagine in an old-school cabaret - wearing beautiful evening gowns with daring curves and dripping with rhinestones. If you don't know what that looks like, google it or check out my social media.
I am currently gigging in the East Tennessee area and working towards bigger venues and events. Reach out if you think I might fit your event or space. I'd love to share my vocals and my style with you. Follow my Facebook page to stay abreast of upcoming performances.
***I have a sax player that joins me sometimes and I am currently interested in adding a keyboardist, guitarist, and an upright bass player to my team! Reach out to me if you are interested in joining us. Please contact me via Email, Facebook, or BandMix.***
History:
A little bit about my background...I started singing straight out of the womb. I began training my voice in choir throughout my school years and was in my high school's UIL award winning Accapella choir as well as performing in their Show Choir and going on to get awards for my solo performances at UIL competition. As a child and teen, I also loved to intentionally hone my skills by intensely working my voice with the aide of my karaoke machine and my Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Jewel, and Madonna CDs. I would practice emulating every note, styling, and trick, in order to form my own style. These artists coupled with choir and my individual adult study of artists listed in my influences below, honed the vocal styling you hear in my performance today.
I joined my school district's concert band in the 6th grade and continued playing percussion with them throughout my high school career which included us winning the state marching band competition my freshman year! Go Indians!
For over a decade, I've performed as a burlesque dancer and singer at real-life speakeasys! I got my start in burlesque by taking a few classes and going for auditions. The rest is history. I've been performing all over the United States ever since. I love all the glitz and glam of a showgirl! Imagine costumes dripping with rhinestones and massive, luscious, ostrich feather fans just like Sally Rand used to have at the Chicago World Fair in the 1930s. I'm heavily influenced by Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, and Jessica Rabbit. I am known most for my singing, classic fan dances, and for winning the Texas Regional Burly Picks 'Master of Tassels' award in 2017. I also have a love for crafting and have made most all of my own costumes and props.
I was a touring burlesque performer/singer for 13 years and also a lead singer in my own jazz band back in Texas called Velveteen Supreme as well as a lead singer in another lounge/funk/cover band called Rock, Paper, Lizard.
I've also had the pleasure of working with a few great vocal coaches as an adult and even trained under the esteemed vocal coach, Ken Tamplin! I have a 4 octave vocal range and can sing most any musical part ranging from alto2 to soprano1. I have been told that I am very talented - although I don't consider myself to be egotistical. My last SoundCloud uploads were recorded in 2015. Hopefully I can get some new recordings soon.
2023 Aspirations:
My favorite genres to sing are jazz, lounge, blues, classic rock, and country. I also enjoy listening to and have been playing around with electronic music production and looping. Although I am a beginner at this, I am interested in exploring it more. My husband makes electronic music and I plan to collaborate more with him on this in the future. We're calling that project Honeypot, so stay tuned for those music releases on my SoundCloud. As you can see, I have a wide range of interests and love to sing a variety of different music genres.
If you are looking for a vocalist to be featured on your electronic album or track, I'd love to hear more about your project. Reach out to me if you are a musician interested in working with me.
Although I have been busy with gigging, recording an album of covers is definitely on the horizon for me in 2023. I'm also interested in the idea of writing some original music. I am mostly a cover artist and have the most experience re-imagining older songs to make them my own, but it is a dream of mine to write/co-write with my husband and release fresh tunes into the world. I have stories that have yet to be told!
